How does creator selection work? 🤔

How do I apply to briefs?

We don’t expect cover letters, CVs, application forms, pitches of spec work.

If you’re interested in working on a brief, all you need to do is click APPLY NOW. This will highlight your profile to the Vidsy team.

Good to know: We recommend applying to as many briefs that take your interest and you are suitable to increase your chances of selection.

What happens when I’m invited to a brief?

You’ll receive an email from Vidsy inviting you to accept the brief.

For Remix briefs, you’ll have 12 hours to accept or decline our invitation before we offer the opportunity to another creator.

If you accept the brief, we’ll provide you with access to the full brief and a downloadable assets pack so you can get started.

Good to know: We always recommend reviewing the deadline before accepting. If you’ve been invited as a replacement for another creator, it’s possible the deadline will be shorter than originally advertised.

How are creators selected for briefs?

Creators are selected for briefs based on a range of criteria:

Portfolio: Most importantly, we look at your portfolio link, which you can update within your settings. This is the best way to showcase your skills. It's important that we understand your skillset, so ensure your motion graphics or content creation skills are clearly highlighted. Please also ensure that your portfolio link is publicly accessible and kept up-to-date.

Strong portfolios tend to include:
✅ Variety of projects/content
Recent examples of work
✅ Past commercial work
✅ Skillsets
✅ Social links/understanding of the space

Previous Vidsy Briefs: If you've worked with us before, we'll take those previous briefs into account when making selection for new briefs. We're primarily interested in your creativity, technical execution, file organisation, ability to follow a brief, and the likelihood of you meeting the deadline.

Why wasn't I selected for a brief?

If you see the brief label, 'Didn't make it this time', it means you weren't selected for that specific brief. There are lots of reasons why this could be:

  • There are a high number of applications. Our creator selection process ensures that briefs are shared as fairly as possible, so it's possible that there are creators ahead of you in the queue.

  • You’re not applying to enough briefs. Applying to multiple briefs at a time will help improve your chances of securing a brief, especially when you first work with us.

  • We select the best creators for the brief based on their skillset, and we rely on portfolio links and previous Vidsy work to judge those skills. If a brief is a super specific demographic, for example, or perhaps animating still assets, we're more likely to select creators who display those skills/fit that criteria.

  • The standard of quality is extremely high. We're primarily interested in your creativity, technical execution, file organisation, ability to follow a brief, and the likelihood of you meeting the deadline. We have access to your previous briefs with Vidsy and will take these into account when making selection.

Who selects the creators?

For Remix, our creator selection process is part-human (analysing creative talent), and part-tech (ensuring briefs are shared fairly among our strongest creators).

For CGC, the creative and community teams work together to decide which creators they believe are the best fit for the brief.

I haven’t been selected for over 6 months.

As mentioned, Vidsy is a highly competitive platform, and sometimes it can take a bit longer to secure your first brief, especially during busier periods. However, don't worry! You can always check in with us around the 6-8 month mark to see how things are going and what your next steps should be.

Get in touch with the team via the chat bubble or through emailing community@vidsy.co.

Our team works Monday-Friday, 9 am-6 pm (UK time). Questions outside these hours may have longer response rates.
